Thomas "Tommy" Douglas Daniels
January 1, 1936 ~ February 11, 2020 (age 84)

Longtime Petoskey resident "Tommy" Daniels calmly breathed into Heaven after a long battle with Alzheimer's and diabetes February 11, 2020 at The Villa in Petoskey with his beloved wife of 60 years, Ruth, and their daughter, Veronica, both at his sides.

Thomas was born in Remus, Michigan, January 1, 1936 to Herbert and Katherine (Mayes) Daniels. He attended and graduated from St. Francis Xavier in Petoskey. He served in the U.S. Army as a P.F.C. June 12, 1958 to May 12, 1961 in Orangeburg, New York in A Battery 5th MSLBN 7th ARTY.

January 24, 1960 Tommy married Ruth "Ruthie" Kelly at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Nyack, New York. They moved to Petoskey in 1966, shortly after their daughter was born. He LOVED gardening, fishing, baseball, football, morel mushroom hunting (always teasing his daughter about how many more he found than her!), and bowling (he won many awards and trophies). He adored his dogs and "Snowball" his cat!

Thomas is survived by his wife Ruth of Petoskey and daughter Veronica Daniels of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sisters Magdalen Skiver of Cedas, Michigan, Edna (Craig) Shaw and Mary ("Bud") Riley of Petoskey, brother Norman (Emily) of Petoskey, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, "adopted" granddaughter Deana (Andrew) Freeman, and grandson Atom Farley.

Preceding Thomas in death were his parents, brothers Carl and Charles Daniels, brother-in-laws Bruce, Richard, and Kenneth Kelly, and Richard Skiver.

Tommy's family and friends will remember him during a funeral mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Petoskey, Michigan at 10:30 AM Thursday, February 20.
