Billy Gene Bowling, Sr., age 81, of US 60 West, Olive Hill, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020, at his residence.



Born October 19, 1938, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Noah and Lillian Fultz Bowling. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Billy Gene Bowling, Jr. on February 17, 2011; six brothers, Jackie, Danny, Arthur, Elmer, Jerry, and Jimmy Bowling; and three sisters, Dorothy Williams, Betty Adkins, and Joyce Ballew.



Billy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Opal Rivers Bowling, whom he married January 30, 1960; three daughters, Jewell McCormick of Olive Hill, Cathy (John) Ingle of Morehead and Nancy (Jackie) Branham of Olive Hill; four grandchildren, Johnny (Jessica) Ingle, Patrick McCormick, Brandon Branham, and Amanda (Chuck) Gee; and three great grandchildren, Hunter Slone, Johanna Ingle, and Aubrey Gee.



Other survivors include three brothers, Curtis Bowling, Kenny Bowling, and Johnny “Bull” Bowling, all of Morehead; two sisters, Mary Murphy of Belleville, Michigan, and Kay Keeton of Manitou Beach, Michigan; a host of nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends.



Billy retired from the Morehead State University Physical Plant and enjoyed horseback riding, coon hunting, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.



Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Andy Lands and Brother Roy Lands officiating. Burial will be in Bowen Chapel Cemetery in Carter County.



Grandsons, family members, and friends will serve as pallbearers.



Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
