Susan Tyson Watts, 69, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on February 10, 2020, surrounded by her family.

Susan was born to Billy Jo Tyson and Mary Imogene Bruner Tyson in Rockford, Illinois on August 22, 1950.

She graduated from Harlem High School.

Susan married Terry L. Watts on July 26, 1969, and they moved to El Paso, Texas to serve in the United States Army.

Susan was the rock and foundation for her family. She dedicated her life to giving to others, first raising her children and then raising her grandchildren. She volunteered countless hours at schools serving as homeroom mom and president of the booster clubs when her children were small. Susan was then promoted to grandma-extraordinaire at the schools with her grandchildren ensuring that all the teachers, coaches, office staff and custodians had what they needed to do their good work. If the teacher needed one package of construction paper, Susan made sure she had enough to supply the next five years of teaching. She was lovingly referred to as “granny” by all who knew her. She filled that role with grace, she was everyone’s granny!!

Susan enjoyed quilting and gardening. She shared her love for these activities with her grandchildren, often sewing with one of them in her lap and taking “extra” time in the garden allowing them to play in the dirt. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, her purpose. She poured her soul into them, giving them experiences that only a grandmother would, such as dumping a bag of flour in the middle of the kitchen floor so they could pretend it was snow and spending all day baking and decorating cookies that may or may not have the entire bottle of sprinkles poured on top of one cookie.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Jean Tyson.

She is survived by her spouse, Terry Watts, her children Jeffery Watts and Jennifer Watts, her 9 grandchildren and her brother Fred J. Tyson.

There will be a Celebration of Life open house honoring Susan on Sunday March 8, 2020 from 1:00 to 3:00 at the home of Terry Watts, 1013 Fountainwood Drive, Georgetown, TX 78633.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
