Laura Elizabeth "Nana" Roach, 93, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in Graham. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 7, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Roach Family Cemetery with Dick Stovall of Graham, minister of the Eliasville Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Laura Elizabeth was born on June 19, 1915 in Bonham, Texas to the late Charles Allen and Laura Jane (Crittenden) Stokes. She married Samuel John Roach on September 12, 1937 in Lubbock. He preceded her in death on December 23, 2003. Laura Elizabeth graduated from Texas Tech University in 1937 with a major in Spanish and a minor in Geology. She moved to Graham in 1960 where she was a School Teacher for Graham ISD and Ranger College for 45 years. Laura Elizabeth was a member of the Literary Club, Graham Concert Association, Texas Historical Association, and Church of Christ in Eliasville.

Survivors include: son, Silas John Roach and wife, Janie of Graham; daughter, Susan Young and husband, Austin of Cat Springs, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Stella Scott and husband, Lee of Austin, Silas Jeremey Roach and wife, Tracy of Ponder, Samantha Reyes and husband, Armando of Austin, Meredith DePriest and husband, Rick of Graham, Morgan Moss of Graham, Marissa Moss of Graham, Katherine Burniston and husband, Michael of Austin, and Will Bailey and wife and son of Maine; 4 great grandchildren, Aiden Priestley of Austin, Grady DePriest of Graham, Annabeth and Mary Margaret Burniston both of Austin.

She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel John Roach, Jr. and a grandson, Stephen Roach.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Young County Humane Society or Library of Graham.
