Mr. Jimmie Jr. Brooks was born on March 3, 1943 in Farrsville, TX to the late J. C. and Corena Brooks. He grew up in the Farrsville Community and attended Mattox School.

Jimmie started working at an early age and held numerous professions. He owned his concrete business early on. He has done some of everything from cutting pulpwood to working for the County of Newton. He married Alberta Jackson on September 2, 1994. They raised three daughters: Shlonda, Tammy, and Jametrice.

Jimmie had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming caring for his chickens, goats and other animals that fulfilled his desire as an outdoorsman. He also enjoyed sports of all kinds. His passion was home cooked meals from his hunting, fishing and farming talents that he enjoyed so much.

Mr. Brooks was an active member of “Fishes of Men’s Ministry” were he witness to others on how to win souls for our lord. He was also a member of the Heart of Worship Church in Jasper.

He is preceded in death by his parents: J.C. and Corena Brooks; brothers: James Brooks, Elsa Brooks, and Joe Boy Brooks.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories a very loving and devoted wife Alberta Brooks of Wiergate, TX; three daughters: Shlonda Butler of Fort Worth, TX, Tammy Armstong (Ronnie) of Wiergate, TX, and Jametrice Brooks of Wiergate, TX; one sister: Irene Shankle of Arlington, TX; grandchildren: Rashaun Butler, Quianma Scott, Ashley Moore, Kiedra Armstong, Antara Spearman, Jauan Spearman and Jacob Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11:00 AM, at the Pleasant Hill CME Church in the Farrsville Community in Newton, Texas. Viewing will be held 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM prior to service. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Newton County, under the direction of Coleman’s Mortuary in Jasper, TX.
