ROGER WILLIAM BURNS, the son of the late Ollie B. Lotharp and the late Ander Burns Sr. was born in Anson County, NC.

He departed this life on February 7, 2020 at Novant Health-Matthews Medical Center, Matthews, NC.

He attended the public schools of Anson County and was a graduate of Bowman High School.

He served in the United States Army for four years and was honorably discharged. He then joined the National Guard where he retired from.

He was a member of Sanctorium Lodge #25. He was employed by Valley Proteins.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Reid and a brother, Clarence Burns.

He was united in marriage to Sarah Polk Burns for 41 years. To this union were 4 children: Eythan Garris of Wadesboro, NC, Laquita Burns of Wadesboro, NC, Roger (Avis) Burns of Wingate, NC and William (Toni) Burns of Polkton, NC.

Also left to cherish his memories are 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one sister, Arleen Burns of Polkton, NC; one brother, Ander (Emma) Burns of Greensboro, NC; sisters-in-law, Mattie Burns, Annie Taylor and Mary Polk; brothers-in-law, Ernest (Dana) Polk and Henry Polk all of Polkton, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Homegoing Services were held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, 2:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Burial followed in the family plot of Williams Cemetery.
