Mary Elizabeth Padgett, 78, of Newburg, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown.
Born on February 13, 1941 in Glen Rogers, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Columbus Shepherd and Vada Marie Wilburn.
A homemaker and mom, Mrs. Padgett was very active with her church, New Life in La Plata. She loved to cook and made sure that no one went hungry. Her greatest love was her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Padgett was preceded in death by her husband James Padgett; sons William Hurst and David Hurst; brothers Clyde "Bob" Shepherd, Rabron Shepherd, James Shepherd, and Charles Shepherd.
She is survived her by children Alan Hurst (Patty), Timothy Hurst (LaDonna), and Michelle Hurst (Bill Smith);
As well as her grandchildren Virginia Kissenberger (Kurt), Danielle Stonestreet (George Jr.), James Hurst (Amy), and Stephanie Hurst; great grandchildren George Stonestreet III, Emma Stonestreet, Logan Kissenberger, and Holden Hurst.
And her sisters Margaret Browning and Patty Woody; brother Gene Shepherd; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A gathering will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 10AM until time of memorial service at 11AM at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5634 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646.
Interment will be held at a late date at the Wesleyan Memorial Cemetery in La Plata.
