Edwin Burkett "Ted" Thompson, 76, a resident of Saraland, Alabama, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020 in Mobile, Alabama. Ted was born in Bassfield, Mississippi on September 7, 1943. He was a member of Bayou Sara Baptist Church in Saraland. Ted graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He began his career with Ciba-Geigy as a chemist, and finished as a production engineer.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra P. Thomspon; parents, Harold C. and Mary H. Thompson, and sister, Elizabeth Thompson. Ted is survived by his children, Edwin B. (Connie) Thompson, Jr. of Gardendale, Alabama, and Susan Thompson Fryer of Saraland, Alabama; grandchildren Danielle Fryer (Zac) Caudillo, Grant (Kayla) Thompson, Timothy Fryer, and Thomas Fryer; great-grandchild, Zoe Thompson; siblings Harold C. (Vanette) Thompson, Jr., Richard (Evelyn) Thompson, and Barbara (Ben) Dauphin; and special friend, Joan Finch.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Saraland, Alabama. The family will be accepting friends one hour prior to services. Interment will immediately follow services at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Bro. Dennis Dunn will officiate.
