Obituary copied from 'The Windsor Daily Star' (Windsor, Ontario) Friday Sept 6, 1957 page 8:

  • "City Dies at 54. Mrs. Mary Isobel Smith, 54, cf 3241 Bruce Ave., died suddenly Thursday at Metropolitan Hospital. Mrs. Smith was born in Salem, Ont, and lived in Detroit and Fort William before coming to Windsor 23 years ago. She was a member of the Anglican parish mission of Saint Matthew. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband J. Earl Smith; one son, John E. Smith, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one brother, Irvine Wissler of Roseville, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. William Paterson (Evelyn), of Windsor. Rev. Grant D. Darling will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home."

Husband 'Earl' later remarried. The obituary for 'J. Earl Smith' appeared in 'The Windsor Star' (Windsor, Ontario) Monday March 29, 1993 page D7. Mary was not named in the obituary, but their son John Smith (and wife Barbara) at New Mexico was named. Earl's second wife Helen Anna Smith was named. Earl was buried at the same cemetery as Mary.
