Linda Sue Thomas Barker, 76, of Rush went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at the Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland. Linda was born October 8, 1943 in Rush, KY a daughter of the late Charles William and Mary Elizabeth Frasure Thomas. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Donald Lester Barker in 2019; a son, Bryan Barker; two brothers, Ronald Thomas and William “Bill” Thomas; and a sister, Jean Felty.
Linda was a member of the Coalton First Baptist Church. Linda had a servant’s heart and cherished her Christian Faith sharing it with everyone she met. Linda was always willing to help anyone in need. Linda had a true passion for writing poetry, following her father’s example. Linda enjoyed studying her Bible, going on family vacations and spending time with her precious grandchildren.
Linda is survived by three daughters, Kimberly (Tim) Melvin of Greenup KY, Deanna (Matt) Farley of Beckley WV and Michelle (Matthew) Earls of Cumming GA; a step-son, Donald (Sherri) L. Barker Jr. of Columbus OH; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy (Raymond) McCulley of Worthington and Debbie Morgan of Ashland; and a brother, Norris Thomas of Rush.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Coalton First Baptist with Clell Lucas, minister. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East. Visitation will be 11 AM Thursday until service time at the church.
