Gloria "GiGi" Lee Allen Mayo, 60, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at her home in Roswell, NM.

There will be a viewing at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Saturday, February 15, 2020, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM with funeral services immediately following. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Minister Brent Clay will be officiating.

On April 14, 1959, Gloria was born to Howard and Joyce Allen in Roswell, NM, where she attended school. While in school, she played volleyball and basketball at Roswell High School.

She later married Pee-Wee Dewayne Mayo in Barstow, CA and eventually returned home to Roswell. Gloria worked as a CNA for many years in Roswell and Artesia up until she became ill. She took pleasure in caring for others and enjoyed spending time with family, friends, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gloria was a member of the Church of Christ. She was an avid bingo player who liked going to the casinos in Ruidoso. She enjoyed listening to music. Gloria was a great parent to her children and grandchildren, as well as a great sister and daughter. “GiGi” may be gone, but she will never be forgotten as she was deeply loved and respected by everyone she encountered.

Preceding Gloria in death were her parents, Howard and Joyce Allen; grandparents: James and Genolia Smith and Lela Jones; husband, Pee-Wee Dewayne Mayo; brothers: Howard Earl Allen, Jr. and Booker T. Allen; nephews: Leon Leron Allen and Leonard Reese; and companion, Steve Miller (grampa).

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Gloria are her children: Theresa Ofori and Lawrence Shepard, Jerome Reese and Amy Archuleta, Kaneesha Reese, Rosie Reese, and Lee Morgan; grandchildren: DeMario Allen, DeAvion Allen, DeVionte Allen, Anecia Bejarano, Deneija Allen, KyDae Miller, Daidrianna Reese Cummings, LeAsia Morgan, Jamaal Stricklin, Jr., Nevaeh Reese, Ja-Ream Stricklin; three great-grandchildren; sisters: Alice Basinger Hicks and husband Joe, Betty Giles and husband James, Emma Robinson, Pearline House and husband Robert, Darlene Stewart and husband Mark, Lillie Allen; brothers: James Allen, David Allen, Freddie Allen, Johnny Allen and wife Roberta; uncles: Roosevelt Allen and wife Doris, Ernest Smith and wife Jennifer; aunts: James Etta Bledsoe and husband Wayne, Erma Richards; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; her special pet, Pretty Boy; and numerous kids that grew up with her children that called her “mom.”

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Lee Morgan, DeVionte Allen, KyDae Miller, Kerri Williams, Lawrence Shepard, and Lamar Allen.

Chosen to serve as honorary pallbearers are DeMario Allen, Jamaal Stricklin, Jr., Kamarion Allen, and Ricky Stewart.

Gloria’s family would like to extend a sincere “Thank You” to everyone who donated and helped with raising money, the cooks, and family and friends who were there for her in her last days on earth.

Gloria’s tribute was lovingly written in her honor by her family.
