Valdosta State student, 22, killed in crash
By The Times-Union

A Waycross man died Tuesday morning following a head-on collision involving his car and a sport utility vehicle on Georgia 122 in western Ware County.

Tyler Benjamin Crews, 22, was dead on arrival at Satilla Regional Medical Center, county Coroner Atha Lucas said.

Crews was driving a Honda Accord en route to Valdosta State University, where he was a business student, Lucas said.

The car collided with a SUV driven by a young Ware County woman about 7:30 a.m. near Manor. The roadway was slick with rain, which may have contributed to the collision, law enforcement authorities said.

The woman, whose name wasn't immediately available, was taken to the hospital with several injuries but was expected to recover, authorities said.

The collision is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
