He was born on September 20, 1940 in Magnolia, Arkansas to the late William & Anna Laura Marlar.
He was a self-employed installer of siding and windows and was a Vietnam Era veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a hardworking man all his life and loved his family with all his heart.
He was predeceased by his wife, Linda Marlar, one son, John David Marlar, Jr., and one daughter, Mary Ann Marlar.
Survivors include one son, Norman Slone of Bismarck, one brother, Robert Marlar of Hope, AR; six grandchildren, John David Marlar, III, Alec Marlar, Eric Marlar, Cameron Slone, Elizabeth Slone and Jennifer Slone and four great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2:00 P.M. in Lydesdale Cemetery near Magnolia, Arkansas with John Marlar, III officiating.
