I’m honored to take a moment and tell you about the life of a wonder woman. It’s a life that should be celebrated and remembered as one filled with love and laughter.

Mildred Eula Davenport was born September 19,1924 in Ellijay, Georgia to Frank Andrew Davenport and Josie Mae Walker Davenport. Mildred was one of 7 children.
When Mildred was three years old her mother passed away and her father remarried Lizzie Jones Davenport.

We have heard stories about the mischief that Mildred and her siblings could get into on a daily basis which will continue to be shared by the entire family. She became a strong, determined woman that was not afraid of hard work and to work hard for what she wanted. If she told you she would do something she would so her word was her bond.

Mildred loved the lord and when asked which bible verse she liked best she would say all of them. She was saved, baptized and joined Mt Zion Baptist church when she was about 13 years old. This love of God was passed on to her children.

Mildred learned the art of home cooking, canning, sewing, housekeeping and care-giving from Mama Lizzie and her Aunt Dora while her Uncle Jeff taught her how to build things and hunt. Mildred’s Uncle also taught her the gift of healing that Mildred used to help people all of her life.

Mildred met the love of her life Clayborn William Davis and they were married September 27,1947. Clayborn and Mildred were blessed with three children, Susan, Sandra and Stephen. The family unit grew with Susan’s husband John and then two grand daughters Leah and Rachel, Sandra’s husband Philip and Stephen’s wife Rentha and many cats and dogs over the years.

Clayborn and Mildred were caregivers for many people and enjoyed going to church and visiting with friends and family. Anyone who’s been to Clayborn and Mildreds house know what a warm welcome everyone experienced making them feel like part of the family causing a huge wonderful extended family. We have seen that Mildred always had enough love to go around, whether for Clayborn, the children, her granddaughters or the huge extended family that she had.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Clayborn Davis, parents Frank Andrew and Josie Mae Walker Davenport, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, 3 half brothers, one half sister, 3 brother-in-laws and all of their spouses.

Mildred was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend that was loved and will truly be missed.
