Golden Anniversary - Newspaper and date unknown:

On Sunday, March 12, 1916, Mr. and Mrs. Ira S. Burch celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home in Union Grove township. At about 12 o'clock on that day relatives and friends gathered at their home in response to neat invitations sent out by the bride and groom of fifty years ago. All enjoyed a sumptuous dinner and spent the afternoon talking over the events of the fifty years that had passed.

Those present from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Van Dyke of Chicago IL. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Burch, Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Burch, Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Burch and Mrs. Rebecca Burch of Morrison; Mrs. J.A. Kyle of Fulton and Daniel Holinshead of Ustick.

The bride and groom were presented with 25 dollars in gold coin and other tokens of remembrance by their friends.

Miss Margaret A. Thompson and Ira S. Burch were married at Morrison IL, March 12, 1866, and since that time have resided on farms in Garden Plain [twp] and Union Grove [twp].

They have lived long and honorable lives in this county, and are highly respected where ever known. It is the hope of their friends that they may enjoy, in their future years, a full measure of peace and happiness.

Mrs. Margaret Ann Burch, who died last Monday night, April 16, at her home in Union Grove [IL], after a lingering sickness of several years, was laid at rest Thursday afternoon. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock at the home, with Elder W.E. McCulloh in charge, and burial was make in the Garden Plain Cemetery.

Margaret Ann, oldest daughter of James and Martha Kyle Thompson was born May 31, 1846, near Williamsport, Lycoming County Pennsylvania. She moved with her parents to Logansport Wisconsin when 6 years old, later coming to Fulton. She was united in marriage to Ira Burch March 12, 1866, and had lived in Garden Plain and Union Grove since that time. In 1916, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Mr. Burch preceded her in death four years ago last November. She was the mother of four children, Mrs. Joe Van Dyke of Chicago, Mrs. Etta Terry of Sterling, James Irvin, of Choteay Montana and Ray, who preceded her in death.

She was a good mother and a kind neighbor, ever ready to help the needy.
