Lucy graduated from Cleveland High School in Clayton, NC and earned her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, VA. She taught Special Education classes in South Boston and First and Second grade in Person County, NC. She created a legacy of caring for her family, as well as her church family. Lucy was an active member at Main Street United Methodist Church and served in various leadership positions. She participated in the Church with all she had, all she could, and for all who needed. She lived a life of dedication to United Methodist Women. Her hobbies were reading, cooking and sewing.
Lucy is survived by her daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Harris of South Boston; mother in law Mildred Blackwell Harris, sister, Lottie Dry Gurganus; brother, Nathan M. Dry and his wife, Katherine; sister-in-law, Joy Dry and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jesse Willard Dry, Jr.
Funeral Services for Lucy Harris will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Main Street United Methodist Church with the Reverends Wayne Rickman and Cameron Currin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 3174 US-158 bus., in Henderson, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
