Jimmy Matthews, age 56 of Sevierville, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 7, 2020. Jimmy was a member of Pathways Church. He was enthusiastic in all his endeavors and lived life to the fullest. Jimmy especially enjoyed being “Pop Pop” to Bryson, his grandson. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, and motorcycle trips with family and friends, and was most happy when spending quality time with the love of his life, Sheila. Jimmy was passionate about competing in Auto Cross Racing where he won several awards as an owner and driver, but enjoyed most the camaraderie of the racing family, who knew him affectionately as “Tater”.
As Jimmy would say, “Catch you on the flip side!”
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Judson Loveday and Ruth Loveday.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Denton Matthews; son, Jared Matthews; grandson, Bryson Matthews; mother, Janie Dotson; father, Ray Matthews; brother, Mark Matthews and wife, Theresa; niece, Chelsea Jones and husband, Tyler and daughter, Ava; nephews, Ryan, Seth, and Kyle Matthews; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Max and Shirley Denton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and David Yoakum; and aunts and uncles, Harold and Trula Loveday and Bill and Pauline Shultz.
