It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Stuart Earl Smith announces the passing of our dear father, grandfather, brother, father in law and friend on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence in Battle Creek, MI.
He was born November 2, 1940 in Kalamazoo, MI the son of Robert E. Smith and Wilma G. (Rowe) Smith.
He graduated from Kalamazoo Central 1958, and attended Western Michigan University for 3 years majoring in industrial Arts.
He married Linda May Cowels on August 14, 1964 in Kalamazoo however she passed away November 4, 2007.
Stuart worked for 47 years as a milk route salesman for Prairie Farms, retiring in October of 2006.
He is survived by two daughters: Lorraine "Lorry" May and Carl Berndt of Battle Creek, MI; Lucinda May Carson of Battle Creek, MI; three grandchildren: Annaliza May Plews, Michael David Carson and Stephen Jacob Carson; his sister: Susan and Walt Rosin of Walker, MI; and Edward R. Cowles of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1987 and his mother in 1995.
Stuart had lived with his wife and family in Alamo Township for over 42 years before moving to be close to his family. He enjoyed fishing trips to Ontario and spending time with his family in his free time. He had many hunting trips to Alaska, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, Idaho to name a few where he had gone hunting then had the game mounted to display on his walls at home. He liked bowling and going to the casinos.
