William Bouts was born on 29 December 1812 and baptized on 2 April 1813 at St Luke, Old Street, Finsbury, the son of Thomas Bouts and Mary Slade. His father was a wine merchant and they were living in Sutton Street at the time.

William married Louisa Holmes, probably about 1837 though as yet I have found no marriage record, They had ten children:
Sarah 1838-1838
Morris 1839-1878
William Thomas 1841-1880
Frank 1843-1903
Ellen Ann 1846-1909
Sidney 1848-1911
Arthur 1850-1920
Kate 1852-1929
Howard 1854=1861
Alice Louisa 1857-1929

I can find his family but not him in the censuses. He is however listed in a London Directory as an importer of cigars, address 25 Barbican, Cripplegate, City of London. He became bankrupt. The London Gazette of 5 June 1855 includes him in a list of people due to appear before court for relief of insolvent debtors as follows:

"William Bouts, formerly of No 25, Barbican, London, Licensed Dealer in Cigars, then of Bloomfield Street, Kingsland Road, Middlesex, out of business, afterwards of Muston Cottage, Trafalgar Road East, Greenwich, Kent, Collecting Clerk to a Brewer, and now of No 12, Bartholomew Place, Hertford Road, Kingsland Road, Middlesex, Collecting Clerk to a Brewer."

William Bouts died in March 1861 in St Olave's Southwark and was buried at Abney Park on 22 March 1861. He was my second cousin four times removed on my mother's side
