Newspaper Editor for the Chattanooga News and former editor of the Knoxville Sentinel. Served at Lieutenant in the Sixth US Volunteer Infantry, 1898-1899. He was politically minded and was the state manager of William G. McAdoo's presidential campaign at his death. He died while on the campaign circuit in Murfreesboro.

George F. Milton was the son of Dr. H. O. Milton, for many years a prominent
citizen and leading professional man of Macon, Georgia. Dr. Milton had been a
surgeon in the CSA.

George's mother was Sarah (Fort) Milton. She was a sister of Colonel Tomlinson
Fort, of the Chattanooga bar, an esteemed lawyer in Tennessee.

George F. Milton married Miss Abbie Crawford, of Milledgeville, Georgia, in
September 1904.
