Born in Jacksonville, Texas, he was the son of the late Caudle Walker Douglas and Ruthie Mae Durrett Douglas. Two sisters and two brothers predeceased him. Surviving nephews and nieces reside in Texas and elsewhere in the U.S.
Charles was the loving husband of Clara A. Douglas for 53 wonderful years. Native Texans, they relocated to Pennsylvania in 1970 for a transfer to Mobil Research and Development Corporation, Princeton, New Jersey, where he was a Project Manager until his retirement. Earlier in his career, he was employed by Phillips Petroleum for offshore work on the Gulf Coast. In his engineering career, he was employed by Texaco Inc. and Mobil Chemical after having earned a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering with academic honors from Lamar University.
Charles’ military service was with the U.S. Army, Combat Engineers, in the Korean Conflict when he was awarded the Bronze Service Star during his two years of service.
Friends and relatives are invited to Charles’ graveside service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
