Valerie was born in Dallas, Texas to Ernest and Sheila Divin on August 14, 1970. She graduated from Duncanville High School. She married Robert Bradley on December 31, 1996 in Duncanville, Texas. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration. She worked city government most of her career, including Southlake and Mesquite, where she held numerous positions, including her last position as the Managing Director of Community Services, where she retired in May 2019. She was involved in numerous community and service organizations including Rotary Club of Mesquite, and Texas City Managers Association (TCMA) where a new award has been created in her honor for her dedication to serving her community and developing emerging leaders.
She said before her death “I have had a wonderfully blessed life: wonderful career, fabulous husband, and a wonderful son. And a loving family and great friends. A lot to be thankful for.” She died at home in her sleep, surrounded by family and friends. Just the way she wanted, under her own terms. She made her Peace with her disease, and accepted what was happening with grace and dignity. Valerie is preceded in death by her Grandparents Frank Divin, Agnes Divin and Bobby Van Way. Her Uncles Joe Frank Divin, Johnny Petter, Johnny Marak, Aunts Delores Divin, Margaret Marak, Cousins Luke Stone, Teresa Marak.
Valerie is survived by her husband Robert, her son Jake, her brother Jason, her sister Vanessa, her parents Ernest and Sheila Divin, her nephew Drew Divin and nieces McKenzie Brown, Elizabeth Divin, Reagan Brown, Ella Brown and Olivia Brown, plus her many cousins and extended family.
