Betty Jean Frye, age 87, of Mount Vernon, Ohio passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 27, 1932 in Lucasville, Ohio to the late Thomas and Rebecca (Bedford) Ash.

Betty graduated from Ohio Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Orphans Home in Xenia, Ohio in 1950. After school she raised her family with her husband Clarence Frye in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Betty is a member of the Fredericktown Seventh-day Adventist Church. She loved to volunteer her time, to hospice, hospitals and whoever was in need.

She had a great sense of humor and adventure. Betty loved roller coasters, skydiving, and traveling with her children, grandchildren, and her siblings.

Betty is survived by her children, Kathy Frye, Barbara Holdren, Roger (Luanne) Frye, Donna (Les) Whited; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosie (Harold) Dutton; numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Frye; 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 5-7 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home; 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Fredericktown Seventh-day Adventist Church: 173 S Main Street, Fredericktown, Ohio 43019 with Pastor Ron Vozar and Major David Antill officiating.
