Patricia Ann ‘Patty’ Rocha 86, a Provincetown native, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Windsor Nursing Home in Yarmouth on Monday, February 3, 2020.

Patricia was born in Provincetown December 3, 1933 to the late Mary and Arthur Joseph. Born into a large Portuguese family, she was one of seventeen children; the last sibling of the large “Joseph” family. She is predeceased by her brothers, Arthur, Mott, Phillip, Francis and Paul Joseph and her sisters Helen Davenport and Rosie Morris.

Patty was the wife of the late Frederico P. Rocha, Sr. and she remembered with much happiness, “that it was true love at first sight”. She became a stay at home Mom to care for her kids. She loved buying little gifts for her children. Her generosity didn’t stop with her family. She treated her kid’s friends like her own. She would give someone a gift for no reason and she would spend her last dime to help a stray animal. She adored all animals and had many of them throughout her lifetime. She loved math. She taught her daughter, Mary math at an early age and a love of working with numbers. She was a patient and loving Mother. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She devoted her entire life to her children and now resides with her first born in Heaven.

Patricia is survived by her daughter, Mary I. Welles and her husband, Patrick of Yarmouthport, her son, Dennis R. Rocha and his wife Barbara of Connecticut, along with many nieces and nephews. She was greatly loved by her grandchildren: Dennis Rocha, Jr., Cassandra, Gabriella, Sebastian, Isabella and Savannah Welles. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederico P. Rocha, Sr. and her daughter, Linda Marie Rocha and son Frederico (Freddie) P. Rocha Jr.

Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass to be held at 10:00 am, February 15, 2020 at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 11 Prince St, Provincetown. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
