Shirley was born on Sept. 22, 1924 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to the late Henry C. and Isabel (Barney) Billheimer.
Shirley worked in the Metallurgical Department of Ingersoll Rand in Phillipsburg, NJ, and at Riegel Feed and Grain. She was assistant postmaster in Durham, PA. She retired in 1985 after serving 25 years as a secretary at Wilson Area High School.
She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Phillipsburg, NJ, where she served on the vestry as financial secretary, former choir member, senior and junior warden, and Eucharistic minister.
Shirley was a 55-year member of William Parsons Chapter No. 185 Order of the Eastern Star. She was past president and secretary of the Forks of the Delaware American Business Women's Association. Shirley was a life member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and past president of the Northampton County chapter. She was a volunteer for the Phillipsburg area Meals on Wheels and a former judge of elections in Williams Township.
Shirley is survived by step-son, David. M. Koch and wife Arlene of Williams Township; step-daughters, Mary Wing and Anna Laudenslager of Easton, PA; four step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, and a loving family of nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her husbands, Marvin T. Koch and E. Ellsworth Deemer, and a brother, Willis E. Billheimer.
A service for Shirley will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church; 500 Hillcrest Blvd., Phillipsburg, NJ 08865. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be in Raubsville Cemetery, Williams Township, PA. Rupell Funeral Home, LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
