MECHANICSBURG Gloria S. Besser, 86, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at The Denver Hospice Care Center, Aurora, Colo. She was a secretary for Super Rite Corp. and Richfood and a 1939 graduate of Miami Edison High School. Mrs. Besser was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg. She was a resident of Bethany Towers for 12 years, actively involved with the residents' council and managing the building's store. She enjoyed aquacize, going to plays, and singing with the Bethany Towers Choir. She was born June 24, 1921, in Connersville, Ind., to the late George F. and Louise C. (Richter) Schenck. Surviving are a son, Jeffrey L. Besser of Borrego Springs, Calif.; three daughters, Barbara A. Shadoan of Mesa, Ariz., Norma A. Munchel of Camp Hill, and Jill D. Smith of York; two brothers, Alvin F. Schenck of Acton, Ind., and Arthur H. Schenck of Bloomington, Ind.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2007, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 Nittany Drive, Mechanicsburg. Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Viewings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, and from 10:30 until time of service Friday at the church.
