Interment to follow, 2:00 PM at Arlington Park Cemetery. Paul was a retired United Methodist pastor for over 40 years. If desired, memorials to Bay View United Methodist Church would be appreciated.

Paul was born in Denver, Colorado on January 4, 1923 to George and Thelma Gibson. He learned to play the violin at an early age. He had a cat that loved to ride in a basket on his bicycle. Paul had an older brother named Lyle. He attended Columbine Elementary School and graduated from Manuel High School. After graduation, Paul worked for the railroad as a clerk. At 19, He was drafted into the Army and was stationed in the Philippians during World War II where he worked as a clerk. This is where he first became a Chaplain’s Assistant. He was Honorably Discharged on April 16, 1946. Paul attended Otterbine University in Westerville, OH on the G.I. Bill. He graduated from college and attended Seminary School in Columbus, OH. Paul played his violin at a church in Columbus and Jimmie Burton was his accompanist. It was love at first sight. Paul and Jimmie were married on December 18, 1947. They played music together until Jimmie’s death in 2012, just three months before their 65th wedding anniversary. Paul played in several semi-professional orchestras for many years. He has always shared his gift of music with the congregations in his charge. Paul was a pastor for over forty years. Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie and sons David and Jeffrey.

Paul enjoyed exploring the world, especially the mountains. He enjoyed meeting people and engaging in conversation. He believed that love could conquer the world’s problems. Paul had many friends and his optimism and courage was an example to all. Paul loved camping, especially in Colorado, and the entire family camped in Colorado every summer. On one trip to Yellowstone, the family was looking for a place to camp and it began to snow. All of a sudden Paul turned into a motel parking lot and went in to book a room. The kids were amazed because they had always camped and never stayed in a motel.
