KARGES - George Karges, 66, of 2161 26th Avenue, died this morning at Veterans Hospital, Lincoln. Arrangements will be announced by McKown Funeral Home.

KARGES - Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Chapel for George Leo Karges, 66, of 2161 26th Avenue. He died Thursday at the Veterans Hospital in Lincoln after an illness of two years.
The Rev. D. Lee Grace will officiate at the funeral and burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with military rites for the World War II veteran, who saw duty in the South Pacific while serving in the Army from 1942 to 1945.
His body will lie in state at McKown Chapel after 1 p.m. Sunday.
A former machine operator for Columbus Hydaulic, he was born Aug 7, 1905 at Silver Creek. His parents were the late Martin and Anna Kresha Karges.
On July 19, 1947 in Kansas, he married Maxine L. Brewer, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Daniel and Marsha, at home; brothers, Joe of Columbus, Martin and John of Silver Creek; sisters Anna Serio and Marie Geiger of Milwaukee, Wis.
An infant son; brother, Frank; and sister, Margaret preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Harold Bernt, Bob Slates, Vincent Galley, Wallace Nyffeler, Wallace Gustafson and Edward Stopak.
