FORT BLACKMORE, VA – Troy Lee Sanders, age 85 of Fort Blackmore, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 7, 2020 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Scott County, VA on April 9, 1934 and was the son of the late Cleo Sanders and Venus Pierson Sanders. In addition to his parents, Troy was also preceded in death by his wife, Verna Smith Sanders; brother, Fred Sanders; niece, Sherry Sanders and brother in law, Charles Lee. Mr. Sanders was a member of Fellowship Chapel Church. He was ranked Private First Class in The United States Army and was retired as a Repair Mechanic from the Chrysler Corporation.
Mr. Sanders is survived by his daughters, Lynn Johnson (Michael), Rhonda Williams (D.J.); sons, Samuel Sanders (Dawn) and Eddie Sanders; 8 grandchildren; 5 great- grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine “Gerri” Lee, Betty Graham (Tom), Mima Lawson (Otis), Ina Owens (Paul), Reba Turbyfill (Gary); brothers, Reverend Mack Sanders (Mary), Russell Sanders (Bobbie Jo); aunts, Sarah Belle Sanders, Margie Sanders; uncle, Clyde Pierson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, February 10, 2020 from 5 to 7 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, VA. Funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Rev. Kevin Sanders and honorary clergy, Rev. Mack Sanders officiating.
Music will be provided by Chris Holder and Journey Home. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 1 PM in the Sanders-Stewart Family Cemetery, Fort Blackmore, VA. Pallbearers will be Robert Sanders, Richard Sanders, Ivan Sanders, Greg Lawson, Anthony Lawson, Mason Lawson and Wesley Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Owens, Mack Pierson and Freddie Carter.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Eastridge and Staff and to Weber City Drug.
