She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Bertha (Chamberlin) Tallman. She was a 1959 graduate of Montpelier High School and worked several years at National Life Insurance in Montpelier. Busy as a homemaker and raising her family for eight years, she later accepted a position with the Vermont Chamber of Commerce where she worked for 20 years. A gifted artisan, she pursued her vocation as a hand crafter, operating Country Lure, creating wood crafts that she hand designed. She also later returned to the Chamber where she worked until her full retirement in 2006. Shewas a former vice president and president of the Vermont Handcrafters Association, while working for the Chamber she was presented with the annual Vermont Travel Person of the Year Award and the lifetime award as Vermont Ambassador in recognition for promoting tourism and travel in Vermont. She married Donald B. Whiton on June 20, 1981 in Berlin. She is survived by her husband of nearly 27 years, Donald of Waterbury Center; her daughters, Lori Shatney and her fiancé, John Sue of East Roxbury, and Terrie Wood and her husband, Pete of Waterbury Center; 4 grandchildren, Devlin Morey, Shawn Wood, Billiejo Wood, and Peter Wood II; a great-granddaughter, Alex Wood; 2 brothers, Duane Tallman of Jonesboro GA, and Ronald Tallman of Orange.
