Joe graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1966. He proudly served his country with the 82nd Airborne Division and was a Vietnam veteran. He spent his working career as an over-the-road truck driver.
After retirement, he delivered Meals on Wheels for Lonoke County Council on Aging Cabot (now the Peak Center). Joe loved people, especially the seniors he delivered a hot meal to each day, and they looked forward to seeing him for a quick conversation about almost anything. He had a special love of nature and was always quick to answer any question about “what’s wrong with my plant?” His creative mind was forever searching for the next project – be it in the yard, on the lake or in his shop. He loved life and all the adventure.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Burton; children, Laura Jo (Ron) Jennings of Little Rock, Tim (Zoe) Burton of Fayetteville, Rick Burton of Snohomish, WA; six grandchildren, Jon Burton, Scott Burton, Will (Keely) Jennings, Katie Beth (Drew) Burton, Rachael Burton and Samantha Burton; four great-grandchildren, Bella, Christen, Greyson and Arlen; sister, Shirley(Roger) Bailey of Lonoke; special niece, Karen (Michael) Bailey of Lonoke, along with many other family and friends.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Heber Springs Cemetery. The family suggests donations in memory of Joseph Clyde Burton be made to CareLink, P.O. Box 5988, North Little Rock, AR 72119-5988 or Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare Volunteer/Donation System, 501-257-3288. Arrangements by Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
