Mrs. Melissa Ann Burnett, 49, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020. She was born September 27, 1970 in Rotterdam, NY to Francis and JoAnn Burnett. Melissa was an avid Yahtzee player and had a fondness for dolphins which showed in her vast collection that was displayed around her home. She was Garfield’s biggest fan, which resonated in the love that she had for her own cat, Mystic. Melissa was greeted on Monday by her grandmother, Elsie “Nana” Boyle and brother, Frank Ruzza, who she considered her best friend on the other side. In addition to her parents, Melissa is survived by her wife, Michelle Burnett; three nephews: Raven Burnett and Graylan Jennette, and Justin Ruzza; two nieces, Anastasia Burnett and Topanga Burnett; three sisters: Summer Jennette, Angel Burnett, and Jolene Burnett; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. To celebrate Melissa’s life a gathering will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Alice Watts Tuttle Community Center at 4225 Tobaccoville Rd., Tobaccoville, NC 27050
