Jane Garrou Lane, 96, of Valdese passed away Friday February 7, 2020 at her residence following a period of declining health.

Mrs. Lane was born on February 8, 1923 in Burke County to the late Albert Francis Garrou and Louise Holloway Garrou.

Jane Graduated from Salem College (Winston-Salem) with a music/vocal major.

She was a lifelong member of the Waldensian Presbyterian Church, serving on many committees over the years. She served on the service committee, women's circle, Historical committee and received the Presbyterian women's Honorary Life Membership Award in 1988. She was a faithful member of the WPC music program for over 50 years. She was a choir member, soloist, children's choir director, handbells, and handbell director.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, who she married September 27, 1944, Dr. Edgar W. Lane, Jr.; her siblings; her sister, Alba Garrou Johnson, and brother, Leith Garrou.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday February 14, 2020 at Waldensian Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Kevin Frederick officiating. Entombment will follow in the Waldensian Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Waldensian Presbyterian Church.
