Richard Lewis Farmer, 55, of Marietta went home to be with the Lord at 9:11 pm, Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 17, 1954, in Marietta a son of Harry and Virginia Burchett Farmer. He was employed as a professional painter. Richard attended Gospel Baptist Church at Torch, OH.

Richard married Gladys Jones who survives with one daughter, Carissa Farmer of a previous marriage. He is also survived by 5 sisters and 3 brothers: Karen (Terry) Johnson, Judy (Rick) Beaver, Jakie (Smitty) Vandale, Faye Farmer, Ellen (Dan) Keerps, Jerry Farmer, George Farmer, Terry Farmer; one special nephew, David Beaver, several nieces and nephews, and his dog “Sissy.”

He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters: Kathy Farmer, Jeanne Fulton, Susan Farmer and Patty Stephan.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Feb. 12) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Kent Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Bank Cemetery. Family will greet friends before the service on Wednesday from 9:00 until 11.
