Mrs. Overton moved to Colfax in 1987 from Lafayette. She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School. She worked at the Lafayette Journal and Courier, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a 50-year member of the Eagles Auxiliary, and a member of the American Legion Post 492 and VFW Post 1154.
She was born Jan. 8, 1923, in Lafayette, to Fred and Nora Reid Wissing.
Surviving are one daughter, Suilon (Chow) Benjamin of Thorntown; one daughter-in-law, Irene Chow; and five grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Wissing, and one son, Tom Chow.
