OBITUARY - Fargo Forum Newspaper
Melvin Page
July 13, 1928 - Feb. 5, 2020

HALSTAD, Minn. - Melvin Page, 91, Moorhead, Minn., died Wednesday, Feb. 5, in Halstad Living Center.

Mel moved from New Jersey to Moorhead, MN to be closer to family, and joined the Red River Theatre Organ Society in 2015. He was previously a member of the Garden State Theatre Organ Society.

When he was out East, he was very involved with the Northlandz Model Train Museum, where he played on a 39-rank Marr & Colton hybrid theatre pipe organ with a 5-manual Wurlitzer-style console.

He also regularly played the organ at a dinner club on a Rodgers Trio Theatre Organ, serial number 3, of which he was very proud, as he met Rodgers Jenkins several times through this position. Upon moving to Moorhead, he quickly became an active member of the Red River Theatre Organ Society by regularly volunteering at the annual Silent Movie Night at the Fargo Theatre and was always a willing attendee of chapter meetings.

Mel’s first visit to Fargo, N. D. was back in the early 1930s. He and his family’s vaudeville act, the Page Kiddie Band, performed at the Fargo Theatre as a part of their vaudeville tour circuit. Mel was very young then (as he was born in 1928), but that didn’t stop him from joining the family act playing the soprano saxophone.

Mel’s family held a private memorial service, and they generously donated his theatre organ memorabilia, including recordings of Mel to the Red River Theatre Organ Society archives.

Arrangements by Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center in Fargo, N.D.
Son of Harvey Barnard and Eloise (Ryan) Page.
