Tammy Lynn McDowell Fox, age 53, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 4th, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of Mary Alice Mitchell McDowell of Burnsville and the late Lawrence McDowell.
Tammy loved her flowers, reading and especially going to the beach. Her pride and joy was her granddaughter, Atalie Jaymes.
Surviving in addition to her mother, Mary Alice, is her loving husband of 35 years, Russ Fox; son, Justin Fox and wife, Tabitha, of Burnsville; her granddaughter, Atalie Jaymes Fox; father and mother-in-law, J.T. and Betty Fox; sisters: Teresa Garland (Buddy Edwards) of Burnsville, Tracey Laws (C.L.) of Spruce Pine and Crystal King (Ernie) also of Spruce Pine; brothers: Steve McDowell (Gail), Tom McDowell and Tony McDowell (Naomi) all of Burnsville and a brother-in-law, Randy Fox (Tammy) of Burnsville. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends: Sharon Woody, Tammy Sheppard, Sheri Meadows and Linda Crout also survive.
A memorial service to celebrate Tammy's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 8th at West Burnsville Baptist Church. Pastor Terry Long and Rev. Ricky Ray will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
