James Jerome Alexander, age 67 of South Bend, passed away at Creekside Village in Mishawaka on Saturday, February 1, 2020. James was born February 23, 1952 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Carl Lee and Irene Mary (Walsh) Alexander.

Surviving are his children Caitlin Irene Alexander of Travis AFB, California, James Carl Alexander of Thornton, Colorado, William (Jill) Sohl of Winter Garden, Florida, Amanda (Jeff) Guess of Granger, Indiana, Margaret (Jamie) Woods of Osceola, Indiana and Bryan (Cheryl) Sohl of Lexington Park, Maryland. Surviving as well are fourteen grandchildren; Hailey, Landon, Tyler, Brianna, Jack, Maddie, Jillian, Avery, Zeke, Piper, Shelby, Sean, Covah and Alacard. Jim was preceded in death by his brother Daniel Alexander in 1983.

A graveside committal ceremony will be held at 11:00 am (CST) Monday, February 10, 2020 at Ridgelawn Cemetery, 4401 W Ridge Rd, Gary, IN 46408. Please meet at the entrance of the cemetery at 10:45 am to travel to the graveside in procession. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service has been entrusted with James’ care.

Jim was employed for many years in the manufacturing industry. While employed, he developed several machines that modernized the industry and had a natural talent for figuring out mechanical issues and repairing them in a timely manner. He also loved history, especially the military history of WWII and the airplanes flown during the war. Jim will always be remembered as a car enthusiast. After Caroll Shelby built his first Shelby Cobra Mustang in 1965, Jim fell in love with all things Shelby and was passionate about them throughout his days.
