Thomas Watkins, 33, of Independence, MO, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Community of Christ Summit Grove Church, 411 S. Lee’s Summit Rd, Independence, MO, 64050. Burial will follow the service at Mound Grove Cemetery. Thomas was born on September 29, 1986 in Independence, MO to Charles “Chuck” Watkins and Lori Kroesen. He grew up loving the outdoors, visiting Lake Lotawana, and hunting pheasant. He made Eagle Scout with Troop 382 and was a Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. As Thomas came into adulthood, his love for the outdoors continued, he loved barbequing along with riding his Harley. He currently worked for Vance Brothers. Thomas would drop whatever he was doing to help a friend at any given time. He had a big heart and loved his friends and family very much - especially his nieces and nephews. Thomas will never be forgotten by his parents Chuck and Lori Watkins of Independence, MO; sister Cailey Carney and husband Paul of Kansas City, KS; brother Zac Kroesen and wife Lauren of Independence, MO; grandmother Judy Watkins of Independence, MO; nieces and nephews Jacob, Dylan, Joleigh, Payton, Levi, Carter, Kinslee, Reed and Cambria; plus several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his cousin Mason Watkins, maternal grandparents Carlos and Bonnie Kroesen, and paternal grandfather Floyd Watkins. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Summit Grove Church in lieu of flowers.
