Allen "Al" Merx, 77 years, of Temperance, MI passed away unexpectedly in his home on February 3, 2020. The son of the late Frank and Viola (Ruple) Merx he was born on August 13, 1942 in Toledo, OH.

Al got along with anyone he met. He loved playing the banjo, guitar and numerous other stringed instruments. He enjoyed wood carving, road trips, tinkering around in the pole barn and lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He graduated high school in Edwardsville, IL., he was a United States Army Veteran and a retiree of the Dana Corporation as a machinist.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Merx; his trusty sidekick, Doozer Doberman Merx; daughters, Jacqueline (Michael) Raymond, Crystal (Mike) DeVita; grandsons, Phoenix Raymond, Parker DeVita and Hunter DeVita as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Louella Moscato.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 in Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, OH.
