Sally Ann Cunningham
January 08, 1949 - December 30, 2019

SALLY A. CUNNINGHAM was born on January 8, 1949 in Marquez, Texas to James Otis Hall, Sr. and Mary Ella Anderson Hall. She graduated from George Washington Carver High School located in Jewett, Texas in 1966. She continued her education at Prairie View A&M University, graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.

She married Fred D. Cunningham of Corsicana, Texas, and to this union, one child, a son named Mark Douglas, was born.

Sally was a natural born athlete, excelling in track, basketball, and softball. She was no-nonsense and very frank and direct in her approach. Still, she was kind in spirit and willing to help those who needed her. She loved her family and friends tremendously, never missing a family reunion or a road trip to her beloved casino with her aunts and cousins or whoever was headed that way. Her laugh was infectious, and she turned a phrased with humor and wit. She professed a love for Christ at any early age and was a proud and faithful member of The “Exciting” Singing Hills Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, often speaking lovingly and glowingly of her Sunday school class. Sally Ann, or Sallann as her name was often phrased, will be sorely missed by all who knew her and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Otis Hall, Sr., mother, Mary Ella Anderson Davis, and brother, Oscar Leroy Hall.

Sally leaves to honor her legacy and cherish her memory: her only child, Dr. Mark D. Cunningham of Austin, Texas; two brothers, James Otis Hall, Jr. of Killeen, Texas and Raymond Hall of Desoto, Texas; one sister, Brenda Joyce Avant of Corsicana, Texas; her maternal aunts, Mayme I. Johnson, Pinkie C. Johnson, and Juanita Carter, all of Dallas, Texas; her maternal uncle, William David Anderson, Sr., also of Dallas, Texas; nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
