Rebecca Lou Tucker, known as Becky, she was born January 2, 1943, in Emporia, KS to Charles Bartlett Tucker and his wife, Carol Stratton Tucker. She died unexpectedly May 12, 2016, in Wichita, at the age of 73. Becky was a math teacher. In Wichita, she taught as an adjunct for Wichita State University, Butler County Community College and Friends University. She also was a private tutor for many. Previously, she taught at Fort Scott (Kansas) High School. As a Peace Corps volunteer, she taught high school math in Sierra Leone. Becky received a bachelor's degree from Kansas State University in Manhattan and a master's from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, both in mathematics, and an education specialist master's degree from Emporia State University. She was a graduate of Emporia High School. Mathematics runs in Becky's family. Other math teachers in her family include her maternal grandfather, William T. Stratton, both of her parents, her sister, Patricia and her brother, David. Music was a passion for Becky, beginning with church choir while in high school. Becky was a member of the Wichita Chorus Sweet Adelines for 31 years. She was a long-time choir member at University Congregational Church, where she served as a member-at-large of the Church Council, a member of the Women's Guild and had served as deacon and on the music board. Becky is survived by her sister, Patricia Ann Tucker of Denver; brother, David Stratton Tucker and his wife, Cora of Wichita Falls, Texas; and sister, Lorua Jean Tucker of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She also is survived by two nephews, William Prescott Montague and Brian Tucker Montague and his wife, Terri Cummings Montague, and two great-nieces, all of Denver. Memorials may be made to the University Congregational Church, the Wichita Chorus Sweet Adelines, WSU math department or the Kansas Eye Bank. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at University Congregational Church in Wichita.
