Funeral services for Larry Vaughan Corbett, 76, of Dexter, is set for 2:00 PM Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Conyers officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February, 6, 2020 from 6:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Larry was born on August 29, 1943 in Gainesville to Linden Bert Corbett and Ina (Vaughan) Corbett. He passed away on February 2, 2020 in Gainesville.

Larry grew up and lived in the Dexter community his whole life. He was very proud of his Dexter heritage and his home and land was recognized in Austin, TX as being owned and operated by the same family for over 100 years. He has enjoyed living in Dexter for close to fifty years on the family farm improving the land and taking care of his cattle.

In 1969 Larry began working for Mid-Continent Supply Company, and spent his career in the oilfield service industry. He also worked for Continental Emsco, LTV and eventually co-owned and operated Energy Devices LLC until his retirement in 2012.

Larry married Sandra Miller on January 28, 1972 in Durant, OK. They recently celebrated their 48th anniversary.

Larry served on the Callisburg ISD School Board from 1986 until 1995.

Larry was elected to the Cooke County Electric Coop Board on April 23, 1990 and served for 30 years. He served many of those years as President of the Board. He was extremely proud to be a part of this organization, now known as PenTex Energy, and thoroughly enjoyed his service on this Board. He eventually became the PenTex representative on the Brazos Electric Coop Board in Waco, TX, serving as Chairman of the financial committee.

He is survived by his wife Sandy Corbett of Dexter; son Clay Corbett and wife Kelly of Lindsay; grandchildren Carson Corbett, Chloe Corbett, and Karoline Corbett; brother-in-law Richard Miller and wife Vinetta of Gainesville; sister-in-law Debi Zielinski and husband Ed of Gainesville; and numerous neices and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Linda Ruth Corbett.
