Willie Fred “Billy” Meyer, age 91, of Turkey, passed away, Sunday, February 2, 2020. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Flomot Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the Hope Center in Quitaque. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore Rose Funeral Home.

Willie Fred “Billy” Meyer was born June 2, 1928 to Willie Carl “Bill” and Selma Meyer in Folley, Texas. He enlisted in the Army in 1952 and served in the Heavy Motors Company, 351st Infantry in Trieste, Italy. He served in the Army until November 3, 1953. He met and married Opal Inez “Pete” Meyer on September 18, 1954. They shared 62 years of marriage together.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Pete and two grandsons, Micah Meyer and Anthony Fraser.

He is survived by his children, Tim and Phyllis Meyer of Brownfield, M’Liss and Dedric Brockman of Amarillo, Karla and Kenneth Helms of Quitaque, Max and Suzie Meyer Quitaque, Dan and Tessa Meyer of Quitaque, and Shanlee Meyer of Turkey; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and another on the way; and siblings, Rheba and Ted Schwarz of Kerrville, and Edwin and JoAnn Meyer of Childress.
