Juanita Bell Pittman Hancock, 89, of Yukon, Oklahoma, died on Sunday, February 2, 2020. She was born February 3, 1930 to Amos and Nora Pittman, the youngest of five children, and grew up on the family farm in Beaver, Oklahoma, which had been settled by her father in 1916. Juanita graduated from Beaver Public Schools in May of 1948, and went on to attend Oklahoma A&M College, where she majored in Business Education. While there, she met Randal Hancock, and quickly learned he was the one. Following graduation in 1952, Juanita started her teaching career in Elkhart, Kansas. On June 28, 1953 she married the love of her life and moved to Hooker, Oklahoma. From Hooker, she and Randal moved to Clinton, Oklahoma, where they made their home for more than 50 years. She earned her masters from SWOSU and taught Business and Technology at Clinton High School. She loved her Red Tornado students, and many fondly recount the indelible impact she had on their lives. The very best part of Juanita and Randal’s life was spent in Clinton, raising a special family of four daughters, Ranet, Terri, Cindy and Linda, and making numerous lifelong friends. Losing Linda’s twin, Brenda Carol, broke her heart, but she never let it steal the joy of raising her four amazing girls. There truly was no more loving, devoted, or committed mother than Juanita. She enjoyed creating beautiful clothing for her girls, which was better than any department store, playing bridge, piano, singing, gardening, and entertaining family and friends. She loved her sons-in-law as her own and always had steaks, her famous hot rolls, and homemade pies waiting on them when they came to visit. More than anything, she adored spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Weekends at grandma's were their favorites, because of her sausage and egg breakfasts, nights making pies, watching Droopy at least a million times, and splashing around their indoor pool. As a teacher, she made sure every grandchild practiced their typing “games,” a skill for which they’re now all extremely grateful. All holidays were spent together as one big family. For Christmas, all four girls and their families would spend the night in Clinton just to wake up together at 4 am for Santa. And for every birthday, everyone gathered to celebrate with Juanita’s famous Waldorf Astoria (Red Velvet) cake. She played a part in every Hancock tradition we cherish today. Juanita exemplified Proverbs 31 as a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Juanita’s surviving family includes her four daughters, Ranet of Edmond and husband Doug Tippens; Terri of Norman and husband Dr. Joe Carter; Cindy of Edmond and husband Dr. Kelly Stephens; and Linda of Oklahoma City and husband Harold McDown. She has 9 grandchildren, Casey Delaney and husband Scott of Dallas; Chase Tippens and wife Katie of Yukon; Dr. Jessica Arnold and husband Brock of Norman; Matt Carter and wife Lacee of Dallas; Rylie Carter of New York City; Dr. Lacy Davis and husband Dylan of Edmond; Dr. Ben Stephens of Tulsa; Jon McDown and wife Lauren of Oklahoma City; and Megan Stivers and husband Dr. Jordan Stivers of St. Louis, Mo. She also has 12 great grandchildren with her 13th on the way. Even in her times of greatest struggle, she would shine when surrounded by her grands and great grands. Juanita lost her husband of 65 years, Randal, just nine months ago. It is comforting to know that Randal and Brenda Carol were waiting at the gates of Heaven to welcome her home. In addition to Randal and Brenda, Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Nora Pittman, brother Amos and wife Grace, and 3 sisters, Erma Powell and husband Bass, Nina Harlin and husband Ralph, and Elnora Faye Morris and husband Carl. Services were held February 7, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at Church of the Servant, Oklahoma City.
