Hazel Faye (Cogburn) Cox, age 94, of Glenwood, died Wednesday, January 29, 2020.
She was born on October 24, 1925, in Hopper, the daughter of Stewart Garrett and Mattie Holcomb Garrett. She was preceded in death by three sons, Vernon Cogburn, Junior Cogburn and Steve Cogburn; two daughters, Cynthia Cogburn and Diana Mathis; her parents; five brothers, Milton, Glen, Charlie, James and Winston; and three sisters, Madie, Vera and Daisy.
Hazel was a homemaker and attended Hilltop Church and Mount Calvary Church. She was the 2012 Senior Companion Program Volunteer of the Year.
She is survived by two daughters, LaVada Morgan of Hot Springs and Lisa Shaw (Tim Purifoy) of Fargo, North Dakota; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Patricia Garrett of Nashville; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 2, 2020, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Ralph Hamilton and Bro. Eric Wehunt officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Saturday evening.
Interment will be in the Waggoner Cemetery, in the Fancy Hill community.
Pallbearers will be Josh Mathis, Aaron Mathis, Sean McCarty, Andrew Orr, Roger Garrett and Tim Purifoy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Matthew Hulsey, the staff of Village Springs Nursing and Rehab and the staff of Kindred Hospice.
