Loren Dean Thompson, age 93, passed away July 30, 2020 at the Cameron Regional Medical Center. Dean was born to Loren and Almah Thompson, September 17, 1926, in Cainsville, MO. He spent most of his childhood there with his siblings Nina and Robert and graduated from Cainsville High School in 1944.

On October 25, 1950, he married the love of his life, Laneita Jean Seymour. Together they lived in Independence MO while Dean was in the Air Force from 1950-1954. Dean graduated from the University of Missouri in 1957 with a degree in Agriculture. He then taught Vocational Agriculture in King City and served as the Farm Director for KLIK radio in Jefferson City. Dean started his career with the University of Missouri Extension Service in Milan then obtained his Masters Degree in Extension Education from the University of Missouri. He went on to serve in various Extension positions in Columbia, St. Charles, Bethany, Princeton, Unionville, Gallatin and Albany before retiring in October 1986.

Throughout his life Dean enjoyed golfing, flying, reading, woodworking, singing in the church choir, traveling, serving as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church, being a member of the American Legion Post 216 in Bethany, volunteering in the community and coordinating class reunions for the Cainsville class of 1944.

Dean’s family and friends best remember him for his homemade ice cream, 4th of July fireworks, lively pitch card games, golf challenges, support of the University of Missouri Tigers and wonderful sense of humor. He was always willing to help others in any way he could and in his retirement loved meeting his buddies at Walmart many times a week for coffee.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 70 years, Jean; three children, Deborah Thompson (Michael Cry) of Madison, WI, Pamela (Brad) Allen of Highlands Ranch, CO, Randall (Nancy) Thompson of Columbia, MO; six grandchildren Nathan, Garrett (Ashley), Erin, Cody (Leah), Charles (Kristen), Jacob; and eight great-grandchildren Rilee, Logan, Owen, Brandt, Clara, Dean, Henry, and Grace.
