Earl L. Allen, 80, of Plymouth, IL passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Sunday February 2, 2020 at 2:48 pm. at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Earl was born at home on April 13, 1939 in Plymouth, IL to Roy and Avery (Akers) Allen. He attended Plymouth High School. He married Judy Cox on September 30, 1961 in Plymouth at The Assembly of God Church.

Earl served in the Army on active duty from 1962 through 1964 in both France and Germany, and was later honorably discharged on March 31, 1968. He owned and operated Allen’s Feed & Grain from 1966 until the late 1990s, and then continued to manage the business until 2006. After he retired, he began hauling grain for his son Darin Allen’s business, Allen’s Trucking.

When not working, Earl enjoyed anything related to sports, including watching football and basketball, and also playing golf with his friends and family. He was also a car (Ford) enthusiast. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Earl is survived by his wife, Judy Allen; their two children Darin (Brenda) Allen of Plymouth, IL and Derick (Lisa) Allen of Wildwood, MO; their five grandchildren Lauren, Claire, Riley, Cooper and Turner Allen; sister Sandra Shipman of Dallas City; sister Linda (Dale) Schamberger of Carthage; sister Janie Crum of Carthage; brother Larry Allen of Carthage; sister Cheryl (Wes) Shoemyer of Clarence, MO; and sister Chris (Ronnie) Totten of Salisbury, NC.

He is preceded in death by his parents, as well brothers Danny Allen and Sid Allen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 8, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Plymouth, IL with Pastor Jerry Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the First Baptist Church. www.hamiltonfuneralhomes.com
