Mary Johnson Childers, 81 of Cordele, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2020 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with the committal service following in Zion Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, February 3, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home Mary was born in Crisp County and was the daughter of the late Cordie L. and Sallie Whiddon Johnson. She was also preceded in death by brothers, James Johnson, Bobby L. Johnson and Leroy Johnson. Mary was retired from Raines Plumbing Company and was a member of Hatley Baptist Church where she had been active until her recent health problems. Always putting others first, she had been the main caregiver for many years for her mother and brothers. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed working with flowers and making wreaths. Her biggest joy though was her family. She loved cooking all of her family's favorite meals and entertaining them in her home. Mary is survived by her husband of 66 years, Marvin Childers of Cordele; her children, Dennis Childers and his friend, Amy Collins, Donna Rentfrow and her husband, Steve, Dale Childers and his wife, Julie, and Deanne Stone, all of Cordele; eight grandchildren, Heather Lakey and her friend, Cesar Tejeda, Lance Childers and his wife, Jessica, Amber Hunt and her husband, Jeffrey, Brandon Rentfrow, Katie Childers, Kelly Childers, Kristi Childers, and Casey Owens and his wife, Dale; and eight great-grandchildren, Blaine Lakey, Brycen Lakey, Bentley Satcher, Brayten Scdoris, Coleman Childers, Henry Hunt, Curtis Owens and Casen Owens.
