Joshua Michael Carter, 36, of Chesterfield, died Sunday, January 5, 2020.

He was born in Bedford County on July 8, 1983 a son of Jimmy Lee Carter and Diane Overstreet Carter. Joshua graduated from Liberty High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army for 14 years; serving three tours of duty overseas. He was a devoted soldier, father, son, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Allyson Chappell Carter; children, Kayli Grace Carter and Gage Michael Carter; brother, Bryan G. Carter and wife Teresa; sister, Christy L. McKinney and husband Tyler; nephews, Jacob L. McKinney, Michael C. McKinney; grandmother, Artie Overstreet; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, January 13, 2020 at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut St. Bedford, VA. Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford, 540-586-7360.
